Groundhog Day

Something had been eating the peppers, beans, and leafy greens. I thought it was a bunch of rabbits...

Then one day I noticed the cats looking outside the window facing the garden. I spied a woodchuck lounging on the rock pile next to the garden. D'oh!!

I watched as this woodchuck ran down the rock pile and through our electric fence!! He started eating the leafy greens and I tried to make loud noises through the window to frighten him, but that didn't work. I ran outside and he finally ran out of the garden and through our electric fence. hmph!

The next day Mike went to the hardware store, bought some chicken wire and put it around the garden. It folded into the garden about 6 inches. We hope that if the woodchuck is smart enough to dig, then he would hit the chicken wire and electric fence on his way up and run away.

So far, we have had no more garden intruders.... well, except for the beetles and slugs that are eating the leaves... booooo. At least the snow peas are thriving.
